Program Description

Offered 100% online, the Social & Human Services curriculum prepares students for entry-level positions in institutions and agencies which provide social, community, and educational services. Along with core courses, students can choose from five concentration areas, each with specific coursework and career opportunities. Outside of class work, students will gain skills through experiential, hands-on learning as part of this curriculum.

Choose a Concentration

  • Addiction & Recovery - This concentration prepares you to assist in drug and alcohol counseling, prevention-oriented educational activities, rehabilitation with recovering clients, managing community-based programs and counseling in residential facilities.
  • Child Advocacy Studies - This concentration is designed to equip youwith the essential skills and knowledge to recognize, prevent and respond to child abuse and neglect.
  • Mental Health - This concentration is designed to prepare you to better understand mental health challenges and interventions.
  • Social Services - This concentration prepares you for direct service delivery work in social service agencies.
  • Generalist -concentration is designed for students who have not identified a specific area of interest, but rather prefer to gain a broader understanding of Social and Human Services.

You can begin your studies with a certificate in one of these concentrations, except for Generalist. All certificates are stackable with degrees, and all certificates are offered 100% online.

Graduates should qualify for positions in mental health, child care, family services, social services, rehabilitation, correction, and educational agencies. Graduates choosing to continue their education may select from a variety of transfer programs at senior public and private institutions.
