Saturday to Success: Career Training

Richmond Community College is offering career training on Saturdays for three different programs of study starting in January 2026. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Pharmacy Technician and Phlebotomy training will be offered on Saturdays plus online assignments. This is a great opportunity for those who are currently working but wanting to make a career change.


Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

  • Jan. 10 - May 31 | Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Lee Building, room 18, Hamlet Campus | Tuition for this class is $180; fees are $485.

Requirements for Enrollment

  • Must have an official high school diploma or equivalent transcript (must be at least 17 on or before the official end date of class), or official college transcript or Accuplacer Next Generation Reading test and score at least a 237 or higher.
  • Must a valid driver’s license or state-issued photo ID. 
  • Must provide copy of most recent immunization records (Hep Bx3; MMR x2; Varicell x2; TDAP (within the last 10 years); tuberculosis (TB) skin test or TB gold test within the last 12 months; COVID and flu will depend on clinical location).

Pharmacy Technician Training

Jan. 10 - May 2 | Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. plus online assignments | Grimsley Building, room 204, Hamlet campus | Tuition is $180; fees are $195.

Requirements for Enrollment

  • Have a high school diploma or GED/high school equivalency or are scheduled to earn a high school diploma or GED/high school equivalency in the next 60 days. (Official transcripts must be submitted.)
  • Score of 250 on RichmondCC's Accuplacer OR have passed MAT-143 or higher. (Official transcripts must be submitted.)
  • Reliable Internet and computer access is required.
  • Valid driver’s license or ID card with picture and Social Security card (signed and NOT laminated).
  • Successfully complete registration application.

Phlebotomy

Jan. 10 - May 9 | Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. plus online assignments | Grimsley Building, room 203, Hamlet Campus | Tuition is $180; fees are $293.

Requirements for Enrollment

  • High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma (GED or HiSET)
  • Accuplacer Next Generation Reading score of 250 or higher OR Must have taken ENG 111 and earned a C or better.
  • Valid U.S. government issued Social Security Card
  • Valid driver’s license or state issued picture ID
  • Current TB skin test, flu shot and immunization records
  • Physical (School form)
