At Richmond Community College, we can prepare you for a welding career in two semesters. You will learn basic welding skills such as SMAW (Stick) Plate and Pipe, GMAW (Mig) FCAW/Plate and GTAW (TIG) Plate and Pipe, as well as symbols and specifications. Upon completion of the Welding I and II courses, you will be prepared to obtain certifications from the American Welding Society (AWS). Every AWS certification that a welder earns increases the number of skills needed to perform a wide range of welding jobs.
- Welding I: 390 hours of instruction (semester 1)
- Welding II: 370 hours of instruction (semester 2)
Students must bring their own welding helmet, gloves, and long sleeves to class.

Basic Welding
Do you want to learn basic welding skills to perform easy stick welds and make minor repairs? Sign up for a Basic Welding class to gain knowledge of simple welds. Students must bring their own welding helmet, gloves and long sleeves to class.
