What is Wheel Throwing?
Wheel throwing is the process of shaping clay on a potter's wheel to create items like mugs, bowls, and plates. The potter forms wet clay on the spinning wheel, then allows it to partially dry to a leather-hard stage before trimming and finishing. The wheel can also be used to add decorative elements through carving or applying slip and underglaze.
