Computer-Integrated Machining prepares students with the analytical, creative and innovative skills necessary to take a production idea from an initial concept through design, development, and production, resulting in a finished product. Coursework includes manual machining, computer applications, engineering design, computer-aided drafting (CAD), computer-aided machining (CAM), blueprint interpretation, advanced computerized numeric control (CNC) equipment, basic and advanced machining operations, precision measurement and high-speed multi-axis machining.
Employment Opportunities
Graduates qualify for employment as machining technicians in:
- High-tech manufacturing
- Rapid-prototyping and rapid-manufacturing industries
- Specialty machine shops
- Fabrication industries
- High-tech or emerging industries such as aerospace, aviation, medical, and renewable energy
Short-term Career Training
Start your career in two to three semesters of study:
- Fall Semester: Machining
- Spring Semester: Advancing Machining I
- Summer Semester (optional): Advanced Machining II
Class Details & Cost
Advanced Machining I: Jan. 6 - May 8 | Monday and Tuesdays from 4 to 10 p.m. and Wednesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. | Forte Buiding, room 309, Hamlet Campus | Tuition for this class is $180; fees for this class are $45.
