This course provides students with the training and education required to pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s national exam to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician. This is a hybrid class with in-person meets at the Robinette Building in Rockingham. Other classwork will be online.
Class Dates: Sept. 9 - Dec. 11
This hybrid course will meet in person on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Robinette Building in downtown Rockingham.

Course tuition: $305 (Includes textbook, student activity fee, and certification exam.)
Admission Requirements
- Unweighted high school GPA of 2.8 OR a 250 in math on RichmondCC's Accuplacer OR have passed MAT-143.
- Reliable Internet and computer access is required.
- Must be 16 years old on the first day of class (dual enrollment option is available for high school students that meet requirements).
- Valid driver’s license or ID card with picture and Social Security card (signed and NOT laminated).
- Successfully complete registration application.

Pharmacy Technician Certifications
- To acquire the national certification Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT), pharmacy technicians must successfully pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam ($125) or the PTCB: Certified Pharmacy Technician Exam ($129).
- The NC Board of Pharmacy requires pharmacy technicians to be registered as working in a pharmacy in N.C. to be state certified.
- Pharmacy technicians must complete continuing education units to maintain their CPhT certification status.
The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board recognizes RichmondCC as a Certified Pharmacy Technician Training program.
