These one-day electrical classes will count toward continuing education requirements mandated by General Statute 87-44.1 for electrical contractors and others who work with electrical components to ensure the safe and proper installation of electrical work and equipment in order to protect the life, health, and property of the public.

NEC Analysis of Changes
This course provides updates to changes in the National Electric Code (NEC). North Carolina amendments and revisions to the rules and laws regulating the current NEC will also be taught. This course is approved for 4 hours CEU credits for licensed electricians.

Basics of Grounding
This one-day course is designed to teach the grounding requirements as they relate to Article 250 and other articles of the National Electric Code. Installation, testing, and inspection procedures for industrial, commercial, and residential power systems will also be discussed. The rules to minimize the risk of electricity as a source of electric shock and as an ignition source of fires and explosions will also be covered.
This course is approved for 4 hours of CEUs through the NC State Board of Electrical Contractors.

Electrical Blueprint Reading
This one-day course will provide an introduction and refresher instruction on the basics of electrical blueprint reading. Upon completion, students will be able to recognize and identify basic electrical blueprint terms, components and symbols; relate information on blueprints to actual locations on blueprints; recognize different drawing classifications; and interpret print dimensions. Course topics include:
- Components of a blueprint
- Wiring diagrams
- Using a scale
- Lines of construction
- Electrical schematics
- Interpreting abbreviations, symbols, keynotes
- Using gridlines to identify plan locations and dimensions

Electrical Schematics and Diagrams
Providing an overview of electrical schematics and diagrams, the one-day course will also include instruction on common electrical safety practices. Students will be introduced to electrical diagram types, schematic electrical symbols, and architectural electrical symbols. Single Line Diagrams, Pictorial Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams and Architectural Diagrams will also be covered, and examples will be provided for assessment through lecture and labs. Students will also be taught safety topics common to the electrical profession, including NFPA 70E, identification of electrical hazards, Lock-Out/ Tag-Out procedures, and shock hazards.
This course is approved for 4 hours of CEUs through the NC State Board of Electrical Contractors.

Arc Flash Safety
This course is designed to train electricians, maintenance mechanics and machine operators about arc flash safety. Students will be able to properly identify arc flash safety hazards and choose the correct personal equipment to use while working in or around 50V of electricity.
This course is approved for 4 hours of CEUs through the NC State Board of Electrical Contractors.

Intro to Transformers
In this one-day course, students learn basic transformer concepts, including basic formulas for transformer ratings, loads and losses. Terminal designations with additive and subtractive polarity leading to Wye and Delta configurations will be explained in detail. Transformer connections using diagrams or Single and Three Phase banking and paralleling will be demonstrated. Safety aspects will be highly emphasized. At completion of the course, students should be able to understand the configuration of Single and Three Phase transformer operations and apply load calculations in actual applications.
