Paramedic Training

The Paramedic certification course provides you with the knowledge, skills and attributes to provide advanced emergency medical care for critical and emergent patients, and prepares you to enter the wEMS Training Ambulanceorkforce as a certified paramedic. This program meets the NCOEMS and National EMS Education Standards and AHA guidelines.

Class Location: Hamlet Campus, Lee Building, rm. 16

Course Requirements

NC Office of EMS requires all applicants to have: 

  • HS Diploma or Equivalent (Must be at least 17 on or before the official end date of the class)
  • ENG 111 with a C or better OR Accuplacer Next Generation Reading with a score of 250 or higher
  • Accuplacer Next Generation Quantitive Reasoning score of 250 or higher
  • MAT 110 with C or better or Accuplacer Math with a score of 250 or higher
  • BIO 163 with a B or better or BIO 168 & 166 or BIO 168 & 169 (SEE INFORMATION BELOW ON BIO 163)
  • Valid state issued photo ID or Driver's License 
  • Copy of EMT card
  • Must provide a copy of your immunization record (records need to be up to date)

Course Costs

  • Classes starting prior to June 30, 2024: $552

BIO 163 Class

Do you need to complete BIO 163 for your EMT or Paramedic Certification? You can take EMS 3163 online this summer to meet that course requirement. Class will run May 28 - July 23. Call (910) 410-1700 to sign up.

Cost: $180 (No textbook required.)Fee waived for qualified students.
