RichmondCC Family Learning Lab to Provide Expanded Tutoring Services

Jan 26

January 26, 2021 - Richmond Community College is opening a Family Learning Lab to provide free tutoring for the children of employees and students at the College. Family Learning Lab logoRichmondCC piloted this free tutoring service to employees’ children back in the fall, but after the success of the program, College leaders decided to expand this service to the children of RichmondCC students.

“Many of our students and employees have struggled to balance work, their own schoolwork and their children’s remote learning. We want to support these folks and their hardworking teachers by offering tutoring and homework support here at our Hamlet Campus and Scotland County Campus,” said Dr. Dale McInnis, president of RichmondCC.

Tutoring in the areas of English, math and science will be available to students in grades 6 through 12 and will be provided by qualified instructors. There is no charge for this service.

Tutoring through the Family Learning Lab will begin Feb. 8. RichmondCC students and employees can register their children online beginning Feb. 1 at www.richmondcc.edu/family-learning-lab.

“We have the equipment, the bandwidth, the space, and the staff to be part of the solution to help our families get through this phase and be ready for the return to the classroom,” McInnis said.
