Explore Career Pathways into Human Services at RichmondCC Conference

March 19, 2018 – Richmond Community College is bringing in several guest speakers from local agencies to talk about career pathways into human services, as well as the demand for more human services professionals in the field to handle social issues that plague today’s communities.

The Human Services Mini-Conference will be held Tuesday, April 24, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Cole Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.

Guest speakers will provide information about gerontology, at-risk youth, substance abuse and social services. They will also be available to discuss employment opportunities with local and regional agencies.

“If you are interested in a career in human services, this is a great opportunity to network with potential employers,” Human Services Technology lead instructor Amanda Faulk said. “If you currently work in social services or some area of human services, we will be providing valuable information that you can take back to your agency or organization, as well as connect you with others striving for the same goal, which is to help people.”

Faulk said the conference will also help promote the College’s Human Service Technology program, which includes associate degrees in Human Services, Substance Abuse and Social Services, as well as four certificates in Gerontology, At-Risk Youth, Substance Abuse and Social Services.

There is no fee to attend this event, but people are encouraged to complete a pre-registration form, which can be completed online at www.richmondcc.edu/humanservicesminiconference.
