Cole Welcomes Back Circus Actors for Another Exciting Show

Mar 14

March 14, 2024 - The Cole Auditorium will once again be the playground for circus performers, but this time not only will they be putting on a show, but they will also be building elements of the set and doing rehearsals at the Cole prior to the performance.

Circus EVO will present “ROOTED: The Story of Dreams” on Thursday, March 28, at 7:30 p.m. Circus EVO is the same group who performed “Solstice: A Winter Circus Experience” last month before a packed house at the Cole.

“Circus EVO has rented the facility for five days in advance of the show, and they will literally build parts of the show here, in addition to hours-long rehearsals,” said Joey Bennett, director of the Cole Auditorium. This is something that every touring show does somewhere, and we were selected by the group for their technical rehearsals to be here.”

“ROOTED: the Story of Dreams” is a production that blends circus, dance and live music into a storytelling experience inspired by the cultural impact of Southern creators such as Nina Simone, Maya Angelou and John Coltrane. Circus acts include Chinese pole duo, aerial rope, juggling, dance trapeze, strongman and much more.

The show will feature six talented artists who are a mixture of local and national performers. Juggler Spencer Androli was named the World’s Best Juggler in 2023 and holds eight world records in juggling. Originally from Durham, Bella Nona is the show’s composer and musician. All the music in the show is her original compositions. Another performer, Dom Sebastian, is a Greensboro native who has been with Circus EVO for almost three years.

“We are excited to have this talented group staying here with us in Richmond County and using our facility as a ‘home base’ for a few days,” said Bennett.

“ROOTED” is not part of the 2023-2024 Performing Arts Series, so individual tickets will have to be purchased. However, those who purchased tickets to the “Solstice” show in February will receive a 20 percent discount on tickets. Tickets for “ROOTED” are $20 to $35.

Group rates are available for more than 10 tickets purchased together and feature a 20 percent savings.

Tickets can be purchased at the Cole Box Office during normal business hours or online.
