Emergency Medical Technician

The EMT Basic Training course will prepare you for a career as an emergency medical technician (EMT). Requirements for Enrollment

In order to enroll in this class you: 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED and provide proof. 
  • Must provide a copy of a valid driver’s license/ID. 
  • Must take the Accuplacer Next Generation Reading test and score at least a 237 or higher or submit scores from an accredited institution or submit a transcript that shows that you have tested out of a reading class. 
  • Must provide copy of most recent immunization records.

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician 

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician provides basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system.

  • A valid EMT credential- National Registry or NC EMT
  • High school diploma or a college degree
  • Successful completion of college level English or within the previous 12 months complete a written assessment placing the individual into college level English
  • Successful completion of college level math or within the previous 12 months complete a written assessment placing the individual into college level math
  • Copy of a valid ID
  • Copy of vaccine records
  • Registration and fee
  • Agency waiver if applicable
