Emergency Medical Technician

The EMT Basic Training course will prepare you for a career as an emergency medical technician (EMT). Upon successful completion of the class, you will earn your EMT certification.

Class Dates: April 15, 2024 - July 21, 2024 | 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and two Sundays in July on the Hamlet Campus, Lee Building, room 18

Requirements for Enrollment

In order to enroll in this class you: 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED and provide proof. 
  • Must provide a copy of a valid driver’s license/ID. 
  • Must take the Accuplacer Next Generation Reading test and score at least a 237 or higher or submit scores from an accredited institution or submit a transcript that shows that you have tested out of a reading class. 
  • Must provide copy of most recent immunization records. 

Course Costs

Classes starting prior to June 30, 2024: $365
Includes tuition, student fee, insurance, platinum planner, ems testing, background/ drug screen, CPR and EVOS card. If you are a rescue volunteer, please bring a letter from that agency stating that you are a volunteer.

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician 

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician provides basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system.

Class Dates: TBA

Class will meet on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Lee Building, room 18 on the Hamlet Campus.

Requirements for Enrollment

  • A valid EMT credential- National Registry or NC EMT
  • High school diploma or a college degree
  • Successful completion of college level English or within the previous 12 months complete a written assessment placing the individual into college level English
  • Successful completion of college level math or within the previous 12 months complete a written assessment placing the individual into college level math
  • Copy of a valid ID
  • Copy of vaccine records
  • Registration and fee
  • Agency waiver if applicable

Includes tuition, student fee, insurance fee, Platinum planner, EMS testing, background check and drug screen, EMT textbook, clinical shirt, CPR card and EVOS card
