Come Dance the Night Away with the Fantastic Shakers on April 14

Mar 12

March 12, 2018 – Touted as the “South’s Finest Show Band,” the Fantastic Shakers will be playing live at the Richmond Community College Foundation’s Anniversary Gala on Saturday, April 14, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the Cole Auditorium in Hamlet. The Fantastic Shakers promo photo

Since the inception of the band in 1978, the Fantastic Shakers have performed over 10,000 engagements. They have performed from New York to Florida and all throughout the Southeast. South Carolina's Grand Strand has become the band’s summer home, and their hit single, “Myrtle Beach Days,” catapulted The Fantastic Shakers to the top of the Carolina’s musical groups.

This combination of experience and longevity has allowed the Fantastic Shakers to possess a level of versatility few other groups can match. With five lead vocalists and up to four horns, they can perform almost any style of music from Carolina beach, up-tempo dance and rock, to smooth easy listening.

“The music is great, but what sets the Shakers apart is the personality of the group,” said Dr. Hal Shuler, who booked the group for the Foundation’s Gala. “From start to finish, every performance becomes a party. The fun starts at the first note and doesn’t stop until the last.”

Shuler is Associate Vice President of Development for RichmondCC. This is his second year organizing the Gala, which includes live entertainment, cocktails and heavy hors d’oeuvres and a red carpet photo experience.

“We are excited to be bringing such a well known and well loved band to our Gala, which is a fundraiser for student scholarships,” Shuler said. “We want people to have a good time and enjoy some great music and dancing, all for a great cause.”

The Gala is the primary fundraiser for RichmondCC’s Working Scholarship, which is awarded to working students whose income may disqualify them from receiving financial assistance.

Former Board of Trustee J.C. Lamm will also be honored at the Gala as the Foundation’s Distinguished Citizen of the Year for his many years of service to RichmondCC and its students.

Admission is $50 per person with corporate sponsors starting at $1,000. Call (910) 410-1807 for tickets to the RichmondCC Foundation Anniversary Gala on Saturday, April 14.
