Feb 11

Feb. 11, 2019 - Richmond Community College invites the public to attend a showcase of all its programs and services at the RichmondCC Guarantee Celebration & Open House on Thursday, March 7.College president stands with grand prize winners of the 55-inch television at the Open House.

Every college program and service offered at RichmondCC will be on display at the Cole Auditorium from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and people will have an opportunity to speak one-on-one with instructors who will be showcasing their programs. The College will also be raffling off a 55-inch flat screen television, in addition to other prizes.

This annual event is held in conjunction with the celebration of high school seniors who qualify for the RichmondCC Guarantee. Their outstanding academic achievements during high school have qualified them for free college tuition and fees at RichmondCC for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic years.

“Because of these students’ hard work, they have earned the opportunity to receive two years of free college tuition and fees at RichmondCC, and we want to make sure their parents understand that by attending Richmond Community College in the fall, they will be looking at a savings of $4,800, depending on the program and courses a student enrolls in,” said Kary Edmondson, Director of K-12 Partnerships for the College.

Invitations have been mailed to 270 high school seniors from the College’s service area for this year’s celebration. Since the Guarantee began in the fall of 2016, 213 students have been able to take advantage of free tuition and fees at RichmondCC.

In order to qualify for the RichmondCC Guarantee, Richmond and Scotland County students must take at least two dual enrollment courses at RichmondCC through the Career and College Promise program and graduate from high school with an unweighted grade point average of 3.0 or above.

“The excitement over the RichmondCC Guarantee has helped spur more high school students to take advantage of the free college classes we offer through our dual enrollment program,” Dr. Dale McInnis, College President, said. “I encourage people to come out and learn more about the RichmondCC Guarantee and about all the college programs and services we offer right here in their backyard.”

The RichmondCC Guarantee Celebration & Open House is free and open to the public. Staff members from Financial Aid and Student Services will be on hand to help parents and students complete required paperwork and answer questions about the RichmondCC Guarantee.
