Richmond Community College offers two types of CPR classes through the American Heart Association: Heartsaver CPR & First Aid and Healthcare Basic Life Support.

The Criminal Justice degree provides students with a foundation in criminal law, corrections, report writing, forensic science, and other aspects of the criminal justice system. It prepares students for immediate careers in local, state, and federal police forces, correctional institutions, and private security agencies. The transferable degree is also structured to allow students who want to seek advanced degrees.

Diploma

A diploma in Criminal Justice is designed to provide foundational knowledge in the American legal system, law enforcement practices, and correctional structures. A diploma is a shorter track of study that can be used as a building block to an associate degree.

The Corrections certificate covers the history, current practices, and challenges of the correctional system. Students study alternatives to incarceration, treatment programs, and inmate control. The certficate serves a building block to advanced degrees.

A certificate in Juvenile Justice covers the juvenile legal system, unique laws, prevention programs, and case processing. Crisis Intervention Team training is a joint effort between Sandhills Center, law enforcement, local National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) chapters, service providers, and the community college system, which offers CIT training in addition to the basic law enforcement curriculum. CIT is a rigorous 40-hour curriculum that involves classroom training, site visits and role playing, among other valuable learning techniques.

RichmondCC offers three defensive driving courses that are approved by the North Carolina Safety and Health Council. These courses are designed to teach individuals to put safety first on the road and help eliminate the leading causes of preventable death or injury in N.C. through driver education.
