Introduction to PLCs (ATR-3115)

Overview

A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is an industrial computer that continuously monitors the state of input devices and, based on a custom program, controls the state of output devices. Essentially, it's a sophisticated automation system for machines, processes, and production lines. In this Introduction to PLC class, students will learn the basic components of a PLC, how they function and troubleshooting. This short-term course provides an overview of topics discussed in further depth through RichmondCC's Mechatronics Engineering Technology degree program.
