The EMT Basic Training course will prepare you for a career as an emergency medical technician (EMT). You will learn life support, basic patient care, and emergency response methods. Upon successful completion of the class, you will earn your EMT certification.

Oct. 13, 2026 - March 15, 2027 | Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6 to 9:30 p.m. | Honeycutt Center, rm. 120, Scotland County Campus | Tuition for this class is $180; fees are $496.
Jan. 11 2027 - May 15, 2027 | Monday through Thursday from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and one Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Covington Street Building, rm. 20, Scotland County Campus | Tutition for this class is $180; fees are $550

Enrollment Requirements
- Must have an official high school diploma or equivalent transcript (must be at least 17 on or before the official end date of class), or official college transcript or Accuplacer Next Generation Reading test and score at least a 237 or higher.
- Must a valid driver’s license or state-issued photo ID.
- Must provide copy of most recent immunization records (Hep Bx3; MMR x2; Varicell x2; TDAP (within the last 10 years); tuberculosis (TB) skin test or TB gold test within the last 12 months; COVID and flu will depend on clinical location).

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician
Advanced Emergency Medical Technician provides basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system.

- A valid EMT credential - National Registry or NC EMT
- High school diploma or a college degree
- Successful completion of college level English or within the previous 12 months complete a written assessment placing the individual into college level English
- Successful completion of college level math or within the previous 12 months complete a written assessment placing the individual into college level math
- Copy of a valid ID
- Copy of vaccine records
- Registration and fee
- Agency waiver if applicable
