Richmond Community College has entered a partnership with Old Dominion University to provide students who graduate from the Electric Utility Substation & Relay Technology (EUSRT) program a seamless transfer pathway to a bachelor’s degree.

EUSRT students can transfer a maximum of 90 credits to apply toward Old Dominion’s bachelor degree requirements. Students who graduate with a GPA of 2.5 or higher will be granted junior status at Old Dominion University provided they receive a grade of “C” or higher or better in all required transfer courses.

Located in Norfolk, Va., Old Dominion University is Virginia's forward-focused public doctoral research university with nearly 24,000 students.

The transfer agreement allows EUSRT graduates to enroll in Old Dominion’s Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a major in Leadership or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology. Both degrees can be completed online.

The Interdisciplinary Studies program is a flexible academic degree that focuses on characteristics and skills necessary to lead in organizational and social contexts, and emphasizes ethical leadership, legal issues, written and oral communication skills.

The Electrical Engineering Technology program provides the broad skill set required for entry-level success and long-term progression in the dynamic career areas in electrical engineering technology. Students receive a core education in basic electrical circuits, computer-oriented hardware including electronics, microprocessors and digital systems, and electrical power and machinery.

“This transfer agreement with Old Dominion University expands the career opportunities for graduates of our Electric Utility Substation & Relay Technology program, which already has an outstanding job placement rate,” said RichmondCC President Brent Barbee. “We appreciate our partners at Old Dominion for recognizing the value and potential of our graduates and opening new doors for them to advance their education and training.”
