Check out these summer camps at Richmond Community College that make engineering and technology fun and interactive! They will keep young minds stimulated and hands busy with technology, drones, robotics and visual arts.


RICHMOND COUNTY

Geospatial Math 

Grades: 3 - 12 
Dates: June 25 - 28
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (lunch provided)
Location: Richmond Community College, Forte Building
Description: Integrating 3D scanning, visualization, printing and simulations, we create an immersive and fun learning environment in which students can acquire and practice higher level thinking skills. Students will be exposed to the engineering process and have the opportunity to design and print objects in 3D.

Cracking the Code 

Grades: 5 - 12
Dates: July 9 - 12
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (lunch provided)
Location: Richmond Community College, Forte Building
Description: Students will be exposed to coding and video game design as a way to enhance their math, logical thinking, problem solving and analysis skills. These skills are essential for reading comprehension  and understanding math concepts in the classroom. Students will use their newfound skills in games that involve strategic thinking such as chess, and they will have opportunities for artistic expression through fun hands-on activities.

Architectural Design

Pre-requisite: Geospatial Math 
Dates: July 9 - 12
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (lunch provided)
Location: Richmond Community College, Forte Building
Description: Do you think you want to be an architect? This is an exciting chance for middle and high school students to explore the world of design and architecture. Students will explore basic design principles and techniques to create hands-on building and model-making activities.

Robotics

Pre-requisite: Saturday Academy
Dates: July 16 - 19
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (lunch provided)
Location: Richmond Community College, Forte Building
Description: This camp is designed for middle and high school students who have an interest in robotics, programmable controllers and/or engineering. To enroll, students must have completed the RCC G.R.E.A.T. Saturday Academy. Students will experience state-of-the-art robotics technology and learn the basic principles of industrial robots with an emphasis on programming skills, problem-solving skills and troubleshooting.

Advanced 3D Modeling

Pre-requisite: Geospatial Math 
Dates: July 16 - 19
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (lunch provided)
Location: Richmond Community College, Forte Building
Description: This camp is designed for students who have completed the Geospatial Math camp. It continues an examination of 3D technologies and includes more emphasis on industry-focused design concepts and 3D printing.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Grades: 6 - 12
Dates: July 23 - 26
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (lunch provided)
Location: Richmond Community College, Forte Building
Description: This camp will introduce participants to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), a science technology used in industry, government and business to manage and analyze data. Students will take part in activities that will help them understand how GIS works and how GIS impacts our everyday lives.


SCOTLAND COUNTY

Cracking the Code 

Grades: 5 - 12 
Dates: July 23 - 26
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (lunch provided)
Location: Honeycutt Center, Laurinburg
