‘Fridays At The Forte’ Series To Kick Off May 8

A series of Industrial Maintenance courses will be offered beginning May 8 at Richmond Community College’s state-of-the-art engineering facility, the newly expanded John E. Forte Building.

Eighteen courses ranging from computer software operation to forklift training and blueprint reading will be held on Fridays through July 31. The classes are designed to allow individuals to refresh their training and broaden their knowledge.

Two courses will be offered most Fridays, with Arc Flash Safety and Microsoft Excel Level One meeting on May 8. The Excel class continues to advance throughout the series, with Level Two, Three and Four being held May 15, 29 and June 5, respectively. Microsoft Excel Visual Basic Programming will be held June 19.
Also on May 15, a class will begin on Industrial Hydraulics, which will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Fridays, May 15 and 29.

Forklift Training will also be a two-day seminar, with a classroom session held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 29, followed by a driving test beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 30.

On June 5, an Electrical Schematics and Diagrams course will be held. The following week, OSHA 10 for Industry will be held, with classes meeting from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, June 12, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13.

Blueprint reading courses will be held June 19 and June 26, focusing on electrical blueprints from 1 to 5 p.m. June 19 and mechanical blueprints from 1 to 5 p.m. June 26.

A Motor Controls and Wiring class will also be held from 8 a.m. to noon on June 19, and a Lock Out/Tag Out class will be held from 10 a.m. to noon June 26.

On July 17, courses will be held on Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Hydraulics. The Basic CAD course will be held from 8 a.m. until noon, followed by a 3D CAD Modeling course from 1 to 5 p.m.

Basic computer skills are needed to participate in the Basic CAD class, while previous CAD experience is required for 3D CAD Modeling.

Hydraulic Circuits and Troubleshooting is a two-day course that will be held from 8 a.m. until noon on July 17 and July 24.

The Friday at the Fortes series will conclude July 31 with a Microsoft Office Integration course from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Pre-registration and tuition payment is required for all courses by 3 p.m. the Thursday before the class meets. Minimum enrollment is also required.
