Two RichmondCC Students Receive SECU Foundation Scholarships

Through its member-funded SECU Foundation, State Employees Credit Union members have awarded two Richmond Community College students a People Helping People Scholarship in the amount of $2,500 per student. The scholarship recipients are Nancy McIntyre of Lilesville and Gyvonna Bowman of Rockingham. From left, State Employees Credit Union Vice President City Executive Douglas M. McIntyre is enrolled in the Information Technology program, and Bowman is in the Associate Degree Nursing program.

SECU Foundation funded solely by SECU members established the People Helping People scholarship program to assist students across North Carolina obtain their educational goals. Since being established, the People Helping People scholarship program represents an annual commitment of over $4 million, with a collective total of $32 million since the initial scholarship funding began in 2005

“The SECU Continuing Education Scholarship program provides an excellent opportunity to assist North Carolina’s unemployed and underemployed citizens with career training and marketable job skills needed for today’s workplace,” Dr. Hal Shuler, Associate Vice President for Development at RichmondCC, said. “We look forward to the long-term success of these scholarship recipients as they build a better economic future for themselves, their families and our state.”
