Take the Class, Get the Interview! 10 Companies Ready to Fill Industrial Maintenance Mechanics Positions

Mar 20

(March 20, 2018) – Ten local companies will offer interviews to any student who successfully completes the Industrial Maintenance Mechanics course offered through Richmond Community College’s Workforce and Economic Development division.

The Industrial Maintenance Mechanics course provides individuals with basic skills and technical knowledge for trouble-shooting, maintaining and repairing industrial mechanical equipment, electrical motor controls, and other systems commonly found in a production and manufacturing environment. The class will run April 3 through July 17 and will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and some Saturdays on Main Campus in Hamlet.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will then be granted an interview with Richmond and Scotland County companies that employ industrial maintenance mechanics. These businesses include Big Rock Sports, FCC NC Paper Plant, Therafirm, Global Packaging, Direct Pack, Plastek, Perdue, Cascades Tissue in Maxton, Cascades Tissue in Rockingham and RSI.

“Students will be prepared and taught real-world situations that can occur in any industrial type business,” said Chris Fowler, instructor for the course.

An employee of Von Drehle, Fowler has been with the company for 11 years, and this is his second time teaching the Industrial Maintenance Mechanics course. Fowler is a graduate of RichmondCC and has diplomas in Machine Tool Technology and Mechanical Engineering, as well as a certificate in AutoCAD.

To sign up for the class, contact WED Program Director Angineek Gillenwater at (910) 410-1848 or ajgillenwater@richmondcc.edu.
