RIchmondCC to Partner with BB&T to Offer Bank Teller Training

February 9, 2018 – Richmond Community College is teaming up with BB&T to offer an online class on bank teller training. This course offered March 5 through June 24 will teach students information and skills needed to enter into the bank teller profession. Students will learn about the banking industry, proper customer services, bank teller responsibilities, daily transactional procedures, payment functions, suspicious activity reports, regulations, compliance examinations, and the latest banking trends.

“This online course will provide a flexible and convenient way for students to gain the skills needed to find employment in the growing industry of banking,” said Hunter Smith, instructor for the course.

An employee of the College, Smith is the Cole Auditorium Box Office manager, but he worked four years in banking and has an Associate in Arts from RichmondCC and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of North Carolina-Pembroke. “Our partnership with BB&T will allow successful students get an advancement in finding employment in our community,” Smith added.

A high school diploma or GED is required to take this course and the cost is $180, plus textbook fees. BB&T will offer interviews to anyone who successfully completes the course. Salary for bank tellers can start at $15 per hour.
