RichmondCC To Offer Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Transition Classes
June 6, 2018 – Richmond Community College will offer classes for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) professionals beginning in June that reflect the new standards being implemented into the North Carolina training model. In order for their credentials to be renewed, EMS professionals will need to take these classes prior to Dec. 31.
Individuals who will need to take the classes include EMS professionals who received their initial credentials prior to Jan. 1, 2014, and individuals who were taught under the National Standard Curriculum for Medical Responders, EMT – Basic, EMT – Intermediate, and EMT – Paramedic. This training does not apply to Emergency Medical Dispatch personnel.
Three classes will be offered:
- EMT B to EMT Transition
- EMT I to AEMT
- EMT P to Paramedic Transition.
All classes are administered online and will be offered twice before the completion deadline.
EMT B to EMT Transition begins on June 12 through June 26 and Sept. 18 through Oct. 2. This course is designed to provide the content necessary to transition a currently credentialed Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) to an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in compliance to with the North Carolina national transition requirements.
EMT I to AEMT will be offered July 10 through July 30 and Oct. 9 through Oct. 30. This class will transition an individual who is a currently credentialed EMT-Intermediate to an Advanced EMT in compliance with state guidelines.
EMT P to Paramedic Transition will run Aug. 7 through Sept. 11 and Nov. 6 through Dec. 11. This class will transition a current credentialed EMT-Paramedic to a Paramedic in compliance with the state guidelines.
Pre-registration is required for these courses. Fee is waived for qualified individuals.
