RichmondCC to Hold Virtual Cybersecurity Summit October 13

October 5, 2020 – Richmond Community College will hold the 2020 Cybersecurity Summit on Oct. 13 from 2 until 5 p.m. in a virtual format. The keynote speaker for this event is Shawn Dulaney, founder and CEO of Dulaney GroupRichmond Community College Cyber Security Summit 2020 Technologies, LLC.

Founded in 2011, Dulaney Group Technologies is an IT managed service provider specializing in guidance for on how to protect against fraud and abuse. Dulaney set out to create a game-changing solution to the problems companies were experiencing with their traditional IT services. He quickly recognized that businesses were drowning in an ever-increasing pool of outages and costs while struggling to advance their strategic business initiatives.

Dulaney has a background in IT networking and security, and he has experience in general business management and product development, including the technical aspects of operations, delivery and evaluation. His company builds on more than 27 years of experience working with Fortune 500 companies in high availability real-time systems, Internet backbone networking, data center operation and computer virtualization. The Dulany Group calls its subscription-based IT service model “Worry-Free IT” because it combines advancements in technology to deliver IT solutions that reduce costs, increase availability and security.

The 2020 Cybersecurity Summit will have three seminars following the keynote speaker that are designed to help business owners protect not only their own information but also their clients information.

The first seminar presented by Dulaney and will focus on the following:

  • What is cybercrime
  • History of cybercrime
  • What is cybersecurity
  • Categories of cybercrime
  • Ransomware

Session two will focus on “Cyber Awareness for Small Businesses in the COVID Era,” including:

  • How to securely utilize your remote workforce
  • Developing a policy for employees that work remotely
  • Creating a "Remote Work Checklist"

The final seminar will cover “Enhancing Cybersecurity in Small Businesses” and will provide insight on:

  • Cybersecurity for small and medium sized businesses
  • Employee training
  • Identifying security gaps
  • Challenges of cybersecurity
  • Managing security
