Lowe Family to Bring Sounds of Christmas to Cole Auditorium

Dec 8

The Lowe Family will make their return to the Cole Auditorium on Saturday for a stripped down Christmas show featuring performances by eight members of the ancestry.

Doug Lowe will be the lone man on stage Saturday, joined by five of his sisters and two nieces performing an acoustic set. The entire cast is multi-talented and trained in a variety of instruments.

“We’re all very excited about coming back to Hamlet,” said Doug. “We had a great time performing there in the past, and this time we’re going to do a little more intimate of a show that will include sharing our memories of Christmas, as well as some of our family traditions. It should make for a very special evening.”

Doug said the show will include classical Christmas carols as well as some original Christmas music written by members of the Lowe family.

“The show is going to be completely unscripted,” said Doug. “We’ll be at the front of the stage seemingly just having a conversation with the audience.”

The Lowe Family has been entertaining hundreds of thousands around the world for more than 25 years, including a 10-year residency in Branson, Mo. They’ve written songs for other artists, as well as composed music for television and films.

All of the Lowe siblings began studying and performing the music of the masters from very young ages. Taking part in this week’s show alongside Doug will be his sisters, Kara, LeeAndra, Kami, Korinne, Hayli and Kysha. Kysha’s daughters, 10-year-old Alyssa and 13-year-old Summer, will also be part of Saturday’s show.

“We’re very excited to welcome the Lowe Family back this holiday season and know their Christmas show is going to be one enjoyed by audiences of all ages,” said Cole Auditorium Director Joey Bennett.

Saturday’s performance will be the second show of the 2015-16 DeWitt Performing Arts series, which runs through April. Future shows include a tribute to Frank Sinatra, “Saturday Night Fever” the musical, a tribute to Broadway’s Big Band years and a concert by country music Hall of Famer Vince Gill.

Tickets for Saturday’s individual show, “The Lowe Family — An Acoustic Christmas,” are on sale now for $35. Season tickets to all five remaining shows are also available at discounted prices and will make a perfect Christmas gift.
