Direct Pack, RichmondCC Partner on Customized Training Program

June 25, 2018 – Direct Pack signed an agreement Monday with Richmond Community College to receive nearly $75,000 in state-funded training for its employees through the NCWorks Customized Training Program.Dr. Dale McInnis stands with Lowell Rogers, plant manager, with a contract for customized training

Located on Airport in Rockingham, Direct Pack is a leader in customized and innovative thermoformed packaging for all food applications.

“We are thankful for all that Richmond Community College has done for us and for having this opportunity to invest in training for the people of this community,” said Plant Manager Lowell Rogers.

Training courses will include OSHA safety practices, first aid, Microsoft Office programs, forklift operation, mechanical and electrical skills, supervisory skills, warehouse systems, quality control and more.

“We welcome the opportunity to connect Direct Pack with the state funds and the means to advance the skill set of its workforce. We want to help Direct Pack grow and be competitive in today’s market, because their success brings more jobs to our community,” said Dr. Dale McInnis, president of RichmondCC. “At RichmondCC, we are in the business of putting people in jobs.”

Direct Pack has 52 full-time employees, but the company is holding a job fair on Wednesday from 1 to 4 p.m. to fill multiple positions in maintenance, forklift operation, Quality Assistance inspection, machine operation and packaging. Those who attend are welcome to tour the plant (closed-toe shoes and long pants required for the tour) and check out its “grocery store” setting used to display the different types of food packaging.
